The Alpine StowAway Pots are praised for their excellent design and good size, making them a versatile option for storing gear. However, customers have mixed opinions on the heat transfer and handle stability, and there are concerns about the water spout's durability.

"I have the 1. 6 litre Seagull, and just love it! Have had it for around 9 years, and it has come bicycle touring with me to Iran, Turkey, Georgia, and now over 3. 5 years of regular use on my bicycle tour of India. It has been bombproof. Have used it on my Dragonfly and Whisperlite (current) stores, and occasionally on wood fires. Extremely sturdy and well built, like most things MSR. What is exceptional is the long handle, which makes handling it so much easier, especially since you can keep the handle slightly angled while cooking if the wind screen around your stove is too high. I cook proper meals of rice, daal (lentils), veggies etc, and the handle does not get hot even after 45 mins of cooking. The long handle is abo great while cooking on a wood fire, where the heat is much more spread out. It is remarkably sturdy and stable, even with the pot full. I normally look and eat from the put itself, and don't have to pour. If you do pour holding only the handle, beyond a certain angle, the pot is likely to flip into the handle, and you may lose much of what you have cooked. But the easy way to get over this is to place the receinty vessel on a flat surface, and support the other end of the pot with your thumb or some cloth or other insulating material while pouring. I don't use soap or detergent for cleaning, and scrub the pot with a steel wire scrubber efter each meal, but have not noticed any metal errosion. Am extremely pleased with the design, sturdiness and durability of this pot for my purposes."
"I love the Stowaway series. I even made a pot cosy for the 1.1lt po for cooking rice and dehydrated veggies. I do have a suggestion though. What about making a version that is deeper and narrower. What I mean by that is more like the Titan Kettle so that it can safely fit on a Pocket Rocket. Once the handle is folded open it is unstable (unlike when I have it on the WindPro). I don't care if you make this version in stainless steel, titanium of HA aluminium, but I would defintely be interested in a version like where the lid can be in place."
"I used these nearly every day for more than 6 years. I initially bought these for backpacking and general camping while I was going to school. They worked so well that I ended up using them for every day cooking in addition to any outdoor activity. They’ve been used over campfires, gas stoves, liquid fuel stoves, and even an electric range. I still have them and they work just as well as the day I bought them. I highly recommend these."
"Absolutely fantastic. 775ml is about 3 cups and boils up enough water for ramen and freeze dried goods. I haven’t cooked any real meals in it yet, but I’m sure it’ll come clean like my other MSR pots. The handle is good, I don’t usually flame scorch my pots (hint they make steel wool for a reason). I don’t understand the “Uber ultralight need” for titanium, you’ll get more mileage from the stainless. You can’t go wrong buying one of these - do it, you’ll thank me and MSR."
"3 / 3 stars 😉"
"Best camping and boating pots I have used in my lifetime. I have bought them for my kids and grand kids! I found my first small pot at an old campsite and with heavy cleaning it is still in use today! Thanks!!!"
"I bought the stainless steel pots to give me the flexibility to cook over a stove or an open fire, that it has done. The pot however looks like it's been through a war and I've only used it on two trips. I think the worst part of it is the handle attachment/ lockout. Once you've boiled your water in the pot when you go to tip it out the handle folds back on itself dumping out the water and the pot's contents. I liked my old MSR pot better, since it never caused me to lose a meal. The Locking System should look more like the one used on the Stanley cook cup, or something similar where it's locked in place. I had to experiment with bending out the tabs and trying to find The Sweet Spot between locking, and being able to open it to the lock position. I'm disappointed. Would not recommend until this issue has been resolved."
"A fine addition to a base camp kitchen ensemble."
"Great lunch/snack storage for commute, is so easy to store & reheat leftovers or sauces on the stove with too! Zero/low waste shops sell stainless food containers for similar prices, but they arent suited for cooking and not as study imo. Alpine pot is so durable, had sitting in water for days on mutliple occassions & really beat it up, no rust or damage at all. While camping and cooking outside, Alpine pots are pretty much perfect. Is of course designed with cooking while camping in mind, but so handy to keep in home kitchen, great gift for campers in college/moving out too."
