Made for those times and places where you need to pack your own privacy, the PackTowl Changing Poncho is both towel and personal changing room (because space, like privacy, can also be limited on adventures). This practical, double-duty workhorse lets you get naked, get dry and get into a new change of clothes without showing so much as a shorts tan line.โ€ฏIt dries fast, doesnโ€™t smell and absorbs water easily, all the things youโ€™d expect from PackTowl. So whether youโ€™re warming up after an alpine swim, stripping off your wetsuit after a surf sesh, or peeling off muddy mountain bike clothes before heading to the brewery, the Changing Poncho has you (literally) covered.

How do I wash my PackTowlยฎ towel?

We recommend that you wash your PackTowl before first use. All PackTowl towels are machine washable. Wash in cold water with like colors. Do not use bleach or iron. Do not use fabric softener. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Dry thoroughly before storing for long periods of time.

Why do I need to wash my PackTowl towel before first use?

Due to manufacturing processes, materials, and dyes used, it is possible that a small amount of dye might bleed from a PackTowl towel. This is why we recommend that you wash your PackTowl towel with like colors before first using it.

My PackTowl Original towel shrank slightly when I first washed it. Is it defective?

Your Original towel is not defective. Because we use viscose fabric in our Original towels, it is natural that they will shrink slightly in the first wash. Washing the PackTowl Original will improve its water absorbency and softness.

What does "odor control" mean?

With our Personal and Luxe towels, we use Polygiene® odor control treatment to combat the development of odors caused by microbes such as bacteria, fungus, and mildew. Polygiene is based on silver salt (silver chloride) produced from recycled silver, and has a low environmental impact in comparison to other odor-controlling treatments. Because the treatment is integrated into the fabric, it wonโ€™t wash out. More information about Polygiene can be found on their website.

What is microfiber fabric?

Microfiber fabric is made from a very fine synthetic yarn (smaller than the diameter of a strand of silk). Instead of having the typical round shape of natural fibers, these very fine synthetic yarns are shaped to have more overall surface area than round natural fibers, which increases their ability to attract and retain water moleculesโ€”this is what allows microfiber fabric to โ€œabsorbโ€ moisture much more effectively than cotton, as well as dry quicker. It also helps make it very soft.

Roomy, Long with Wide Sleeves

"Car Camping showers often have wet floors so I like putting on shorts or swim suit briefs rather than getting long pants wet. Back in camp I can crawl into my tent (not high enough to stand in) , put up a tipi tarp, or before this purchase, use a long (night?) t-shirt to change into pants and / or underwear. The last option will be far easier with this as it is longer, and the wide sleeves mean I can slip my arms inside to pull up pants etc, it is also roomier which makes this even easier. I could just put on underwear to start with as this covers them, just not used to doing that. (With swimsuit I can say I am wearing that if I get questions?) I can do without a towel too, and dry off with the outside of this, the inside is still dry when I tried it at home. Or if I have space still bring a cotton towel if I want, and fall back on this if the cotton towel doesn't dry in the rainy PNW. Being male I don't have to worry about putting on shirts, but I did put on a t-shirt (backwards!) with this just for fun. Don't think that would be possible with my night shirt but this is wide enough to put on a t-shirt underneath esp. with arms inside the wide "poncho". I thought ponchos had open sides , not sure, but this doesn't it is more like a very wide and long hooded t-shirt."

"It's ok - but the material could be softer and more stretchy. I have a towel from a different brand that is soft and stretchy which I prefer to this new poncho."

Perfect poncho!

"Awesome poncho for changing out of wetsuits and just about anything else. Kinda great I can take it traveling and use it as a towel too."

Works well for changing out

"Works well for changing out of wet shorts and getting dressed at the beach. Packtowl material is reasonably compact for a pack or beach bag, comfortable, and works super-well as a towel. Hood provides extra warmth if needed after winter plunges."
