"I can not get the original filter to unscrew. I feel like I just wasted $250 dollars."
"Would not have needed it if the original nut was built better."
"The parts fit to repair our purifier."
"The replacement is like the original but I yould have liked a change in design. The 90 degree part of the pre filter is to fragil and broke during transportation in my backpac. If the angle could be made of two section with ajustable angle it would prevent breaking. . ."
"A quick easy fix. The prefilter broke after years of use. Ordered the part and I am back up and running."
"It’s a backup for the great fall"
"I have been using this filter for years in far flung places and was super happy with its performance. Then it started leaking water from the side through the crack where the filter element screws into the unit. So instead of getting filtered water through the bottom hole, water squirts out through the sides. No matter who tightly I screw in the filter element, it keeps squirting out the side. Will the purchase of a new filter cartridge solve this problem?"
"MSR Guardian. I bought it two days ago as a present for my wife for her birthday to use it in her upcoming trip to Nepal. When I tested it, it start leaking. I tried to disassembled it by hand to find out that the end nut was broken. Very disappointing I'm wondering about those military standards...or it is just a trick to by very expensive and not reliable kit. I will ask the shop for return but doubt I will buy again this purifier."
"We took the MSR guardian water purifier with on the Yukon 1000 paddle race. 1000 miles from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to the Dalton Highway Bridge, Artic Circle, AK. The filter worked superbly the 7 days we were in the wilderness and even filtered silty water from the Yukon river. By the end of the 7 days the silt had taken its toll on the filter by means of slower flow rate, but was still filtering drinkable water. I give this filter an A plus under these conditions."
"This is my third replacement filter for my Guardian filter. I have not used this one yet but my guardian has lived up to my expectations. I use it for filling 5 gallon plastic Jerry cans. The speed of filling is great. We've filled from lake Michigan and several creeks and small ponds in mid to northern Wisconsin. My first filter I changed because I took water from the Displanes River just across the southern boarder into Illinois's. Out of pure paranoia from chemicals in this water we did not drink. We thru away the cans we filled and the filter element from the Guardian. I truly wish this system could incorporate a chemical and heavy metals filter of some sort. Otherwise... This is a good system for us."
