"Great pot. Heats a lot of water very fast with the reactor stove"
"Reactor stove is rick solid and this larger volume pot speeds up coffee for a crew of 4 and any needs for melting snow for water"
"Perfect for group snow melt fests, boiling and cooking."
"Love it. Been using a reactor since they 1st came out. This pot let's me share the love with a bigger group. Will be heading out this weekend and using it again."
"The best."
"I purchased the reactor 1. 7L stove and pot in 2008 (17 years ago). It has been on every camping trip since and took a beating. My favourite use was making several pots of morning coffee for my friends or myself on countless solo trips. The frustrating aspect of the original model was that the handle on the pot would “pop off” making for a serious boiled water burn risk. The handle became more and more unreliable over time. Eventually MSR put out a safety recall for the pot handle. Their very poor cure - a clamping potlifter was mailed out after you applied. In my option this was a very cheep cop out by MSR (Cascade Design). There was several concerns I had with this resolve. 1) You hand to keep using the original handle to securely close the pot lid for transport. 2) it did not store in the pot with the stove and canister 3) and most importantly - it remained a mayor safety risk as you still had to use the original “pop off” handle when taking the pot off the stove when using while using the MSR Reactor coffee filter. In the end, I tried to jerry rig the original handle to prevent it from becoming loose. This resulted in making the pot unusable. thus, I purchased a the new MSR reactor 1. 7L pot. They resolved the popping off issue - same pot otherwise. Basically, I am back to loving the the original system without the frustration and safety concerns of the loose handle. Beauty work Cascade Design. On an off note…. If a new 1. 7L pot is designed in the future, making it a smidgen taller to allow storage of the coffee filter would be an absolute bonus. (Alternatively, widening and shorting the fuel canister!!) just a thought"
"I believe that simplicity is the key to good design and the redesign of these pot handles is the epitome of simple. I am happy to have paid to purchase new pots that are now in line with the name of your business (i. e. Mountain SAFETY Research). What saddens me is that I now have three 1. 7 liter pots that I cannot use, because they are unsafe. I can't resell them to someone else, and from what I was told by a customer service representative at MSR, you don't them back either. I don't care about the money to replace them, it's just that the repair to rectify the design error is so simple that it seems a shame to throw away three $114. 00 pots."
"I own the 1 liter and 2 liter pots. They are lightweight and fit a small or large fuel canister inside with the stove (based on what pot I take). The lid has held up well being tossed in my pack. The only issue I have had is that the handle sometimes comes off when opening it, but it can be easily reattached."
"I bought a 1.7 L Reactor Pot in 2016 to replace my Pocket Rocket while thru hiking the PCT after a miserable high elevation camp without heat. I've used it on every trail since then with the knowledge that I could boil water quickly. The Reactor recall was a real blow to me. I've had numerous pot handle malfunctions while opening and closing the handle and had to deal with them on the trail. The pot handle distributed thru the recall solution is probably more dangerous than the original. To use the replacement handle, you have to place your fingers very close to the heated pot to pour with it. Combine that with the weight of the water in a 1.7L pot and you may not be able pour safely as you tilt the short, weak handle. The replacement handle doesn't clamp down securely when used with the strainer lid. Lastly, you can't secure the lid on the pot without a clamping devise spanning the top of the pot. I see that all of the Reactor Stoves have been taken off the MSR website except for the 2.5L version. The 2.5L pot has a completely different and sturdy handle than the smaller pots. Are there not any handle kits like this available to replace the defective ones? I've already spent $300 on the original 1.7L Reactor. I won't be shopping for another."
"Having this pot, and the smaller one, was a game changer for where we cook, what, and how. You can live with the one smaller Reactor pot - but the universe opens up with two ! Also, way prefer the sturdier handle on this larger pot than the smaller on."
