The WhisperLite™ Universal Stove is highly praised for its quality, durability, and efficiency. Customers appreciate its versatility in using different types of fuel and its suitability for quick trips and two-person meals. However, opinions on the pump and design are mixed, with some finding the pump non-functional and the design cheap and brittle.

"Great stove. Well built and completely versatile. I own several MSR stoves and they always perform well."
"one of the best"
"Person who helped me was awesome!"
"Do it all"
"I would say yes! The variety of fuels types is spectacular! 90% of the time i use iso butane or propane, but the ability to convert is awesome. Quick cook times, good flame control. I also have a whisper light stove for colder weather and higher altitudes."
"I like the multi-fuel flexibly but when using white gas, which is why I bought it, the lighting, priming and minimal temperature adjustment makes it less amazing. After priming, the yellow flame burns wildly and sooty. I really wanted to like this stove more but my 30 yo Coleman white gas mini camping stove is easier to light and to adjust the flame but it is also bigger/heavier. At least with white gas, it's good for boiling water quickly. With fuel canisters, it is more adjustable but still more bulky than my other stove options."
"I love this stove and the versatility of being able to use liquid fuel or canned. If you could add simmer control similar the Dragonfly stove I would give it 6 out of 5 stars."
"Got mine 5 years ago, for a multitude of expeditions to remote spots that would most likely force me to burn the worst fuels (like unleaded gasoline) in the craziest conditions. I took it everywhere for the past 5 years, it worked with temperatures as low as -20ºC and as high as 45ºC, through wind, rain and ice, and even exposed to salt from the closeness to saltwater! Burned pretty much everything with it, and in the last trips I did I was forced to use almost exclusively unleaded gasoline, due to the remoteness. Still no signs of slowing down in performance, and no signs of deterioration. Melts snow super fast, heats up water in windy mountain tops with ease, super nice to cook...never failed me. Amazing tool ready for any expedition."
