The Big Zip™ Drink Tube Kit easily replaces a damaged or old drink tube on your Platypus Big Zip™ EVO Reservoir. Grab a separate kit for a partner or each member of the family if sharing reservoirs is on your agenda. Kits offer specific tube lengths optimized for each of the Big Zip EVO Reservoir sizes—1.5L, 2L, 3L & Lumbar 2L. Includes a drink tube with quick-disconnect fitting, a Big Zip EVO shutoff valve, lapel attachment, and a HyFLO™ bite valve.

How do I use my Reservoir Cleaning Kit to clean my reservoir?

Our Reservoir Cleaning Kit comes with two brushes: one long, thin brush and one shorter, wider brush. These are used to scrub different parts of your hydration reservoir.


The long, skinny brush is made to clean your drink tube. Keeping a finger in the hoop at the end of the brush, you can use the brush on the opposite end to scrub the inside of your drink tube. Note: When detaching your drink tube to clean, it's easiest to access the interior of your drink tube through the end with the bite valve.


The shorter, wider brush is used for scrubbing the interior of your reservoir. Simply hold on to the obvious handle, and use the bristled end to scrub at any visible dirt or residue inside your reservoir.

How do I install my Bite Valve Cover?

First, remove your HyFLO™ Bite Valve from your shutoff valve.Next, insert the base of the Bite Valve Cover over the tube, and push it all the way down.Open the top of the Bite Valve Cover, and re-insert your HyFLO Bite Valve onto the shutoff valve with the base of the Bite Valve Cover between the bite valve and the shutoff valve.Last, close the top of the Bite Valve Cover. Voila!

How do I use my Big Zip™ EVO Filter Connector Kit?

The Big Zip™ EVO Connector Kit is a nifty accessory that allows you to filter directly from your GravityWorks™ into your Big Zip EVO without ever having to remove your reservoir from your pack.


To do so, you first need to remove your drink tube from your reservoir via the quick-disconnect. Then, plug the connection point on the connector kit's hose directly into the quick-disconnect point (you will hear a click). Next, attach the connector kit's hose to the base of your GravityWorks filter cartridge. Let gravity do the rest, as you're now on your way to clean, taste-free hydration.

Kinks all the time

"The replacement tube has been the absolute worst... The tube material is way too soft and it kinks constantly! Things that have made it kink: -Being in a full pack and having some pressure against the bladder. -Making a turn from the top of my pack to the hose hole. -Making a turn from where it exits my pack to the shoulder strap clip. I just finished a 3 week hiking trip, and I had to stop and open up my bag to delicately re-arrange the hose repeatedly and just hope that it wouldn't kink again. It was incredibly frustrating! I was already frustrated by the price of the replacement hose, and honestly this experience has destroyed any and all trust I had left in Platypus products. Not sure why they changed the hose material but it was a very bad idea. The reason I replaced the hose in the first place was because the lever on the mouthpiece of my original one broke right away. That was some years ago, and I had been using the mouthpiece from some off brand bladder for years since I had to replace it in a pinch and couldn't get a replacement mouthpiece or hose in store anywhere. I was lucky that some off brand uses the same irregular hose size. It was incredibly inconvenient that I couldn't just grab a new mouthpiece from REI. I hope this product team gets their act together someday, but honestly I'm not going to waste my money any more to find out."

"This hose is about 3" too short. I was looking for a regular hydration bladder hose for use with a backpack. There wasn't one. So I had to settle for this weird model with a quick connect in the middle of it. Whats the use of that?? Who knows. Just sell a hydration bladder hose that is full length with the quick connect at the END not the middle."
